Got'z Grindz Spam Musubi

If you are a fan of spam musubi, you have to stop by Got’z Grindz during your trip to Oahu. I was looking for a place to grab a snack for our Pu’u Ma’eli’eli hike and I noticed that Got’z Grindz was only a 5-minute drive from the trailhead. They have a wide variety of spam musubis along with heartier selections like bento boxes and rice bowls. Everything is already laid out on the counter for you to just pick up and go so it’s super convenient if you are in a rush like we were.

What is Spam Musubi?

For people that don’t know, spam musubi is essentially a little rectangle ball of rice with cooked spam on top that’s wrapped in seaweed. It might not sound too appealing but it’s so delicious! It’s a very popular snack in Hawaii and you can usually find it at grocery stores or dedicated outposts like Got’z Grindz or Cafe Musubi Iyasume. I always get at least a couple while I’m here. I even buy some for the plane ride back since it’s such a good snack!

Got’z Grindz Location

Got’z Grindz is about a 30-minute drive from Waikiki. It is a very convenient place to stop by if you already plan on being on that side of the island near Kaneohe. Again, we were already planning on hiking the Pu’u Ma’eli’eli Trail so it was super easy for us to make a pit stop.

Hours of Operation

Got’z Grindz has very early and limited hours. Their hours of operations are from Tuesday-Saturday 6:00 am-1:00 pm. They are closed Sunday/Monday. Please check their Instagram for updated hours.

What Is Got’z Grindz Known For?

As mentioned above, if you are a fan of spam musubi, then you have to come and try this place. They have so many different types of musubis that I couldn’t decide on just one. They have your traditional ones with regular spam on top and other creative ones like unagi (eel) and avocado. Please be aware that this place is more of a market/to-go spot. There aren’t any tables for you to sit and eat at.

What Did We Order?

I wanted to try as much as I could so OF COURSE I over-ordered once again. I got the Got’z Musubi Sampler ($10.00) and the Spam Picnic Pack ($10.50). It was way too much food for two people but we at least got to spread it out over the next couple of days. The “eel and avocado” spam musubi is what I usually love to order, but I told myself that I already had too much food and I needed to calm down.

As a side note, if you’ve ordered too much, you can store spam musubis in the fridge but they are definitely not good cold. Make sure you re-heat them up in the microwave otherwise, the rice will be too hard.

Overall Review of Got’z Grindz

Absolutely love the wide variety of this store! It was a perfect place to pick up something fast and easy for our hike. The employees were super friendly and it was great to support a small mom-and-pop shop. If I’m in the area again, I will definitely stop by, but I probably won’t drive the 30 minutes from Waikiki just for spam musubi when there are a bunch of other spam musubi places down there.
