How to Get Busan Sky Capsule Tickets When They're Sold Out + Complete Guide (2026)

Planning to ride the Busan Sky Capsule but can’t find tickets? You’re not alone. The Busan Sky Capsule at Haeundae Blueline Park is one of the most popular attractions in Busan, and reservations often sell out weeks in advance, especially for sunset and weekends.

During my own trip, I made the mistake of waiting until the week before to book, only to find every ticket completely sold out. Instead of giving up, my friend and I tested multiple ways to see if we could still get tickets. Not only did it work, but we were able to secure the exact sunset time slot we wanted.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to book Busan Sky Capsule tickets, what to do if they’re sold out, the best route to take, the best time to ride, and whether it’s actually worth it.

What Is the Busan Sky Capsule?

The Busan Sky Capsule is a private capsule train located inside Haeundae Blueline Park, one of the most popular attractions in Busan. The capsules travel along an elevated railway between Mipo Station and Cheongsapo Station, offering panoramic views of the East Sea and Busan’s coastline, Haeundae’s rugged coastline, colorful beach trains, and dramatic cliffs. The ride takes approximately 30 minutes and is one of the most scenic experiences you’ll find on any Busan itinerary.

One of the reasons the Sky Capsule became so famous is because it feels almost cinematic. Between the ocean views, pastel-colored capsules, and coastal atmosphere, it’s one of the most photogenic experiences in Korea.

How Much is the Busan Sky Capsule?

Ticket prices vary depending on how many people are riding in the capsule, but it will range from 50,000-60,000 KRW (~$34-$40 USD). Each capsule can hold a maximum of four people. Any more, you will need to purchase another capsule ticket. Solo travelers are welcome but must purchase the two-person ticket.

Is the Busan Sky Capsule Worth It?

Absolutely! If you’re putting together a Busan travel itinerary, I think the Sky Capsule is easily one of the best experiences in the city. Between the ocean views, slow paced ride, and convenient location near Haeundae Beach and Cheongsapo, it’s easy to combine with several other popular Busan attractions in one day.

Some highlights include:

  • Stunning coastal views the entire ride
  • One of the most Instagrammable spots in Busan
  • Private capsules so it never feels overcrowded
  • Great activity for couples, families, and solo travelers
  • Easy access from Haeundae Beach

How to Reserve Busan Sky Capsule Tickets

Because the Busan Sky Capsule is so popular, reservations sell out very quickly, especially during cherry blossom season, weekends, and sunset hours. Reservations open one month before your travel date and popular time slots often sell out shortly after reservations open.

I learned this the hard way. I totally thought I would be able to just buy them a week before, but NOPE! Not only were they sold out, but they were sold out for the next three weeks. But don’t worry, because I have a solution for you if you’re in the same boat.

But if you are reading this a month before your trip and are willing to wait for your ticket window to open, all you have to do is go to Blueline Park Website and select the “Sky Capsule” option ticket and where you want to depart from.

What is the Most Popular Route?

There are two ways you can ride the Busan Sky Capsule and it really depends on what you want to see.

Mipo Station → Cheongsapo Station

The most popular route, offering uninterrupted ocean views for nearly the entire ride. If you’re hoping to experience golden hour over the water, this is the direction I recommend.

A great option if you’d rather photograph Busan’s skyline. During sunset, the sun sets behind the city’s buildings, creating a different perspective.

Best Time to Ride the Busan Sky Capsule

I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with either time slot. Each offers a completely different experience, so the best choice really depends on what you want to see and photograph.

Like many visitors, I booked a sunset time slot after reading countless blogs recommending it as the “best” time to ride the Busan Sky Capsule. However, after experiencing it myself, I actually wish I had booked a morning ride instead. Here’s why:

Sunset

Sunset is the most popular time to ride because you get beautiful golden hour lighting over the ocean, making it one of the most scenic experiences at Haeundae Blueline Park. It’s also the hardest time slot to reserve.

If you do choose sunset, I recommend booking the second-to-last reservation rather than the final time slot of the day. This is because there is typically a wait before boarding the actual capsule, and you may end up missing the best sunset light.

That being said, keep in mind that weather plays a huge factor. Both times I rode the Sky Capsule during sunset, it was cloudy, which was a little disappointing since I was hoping for those iconic golden hour ocean views.

Morning

If you want clear blue skies, brighter photos, and fewer crowds, I actually think a morning ride is underrated.

In my experience, there was a much better chance of having clear weather earlier in the day. When I was up at 9:00am, it was absolutely beautiful with blue skies, calm weather, and comfortable temperatures before the heat picked up.

For photography, I actually preferred the morning lighting because the ocean looked bright and vibrant, and the entire coastline felt much clearer.

What Happens if You Didn’t Make a Sky Capsule Reservation?

Don’t panic because you still have a few options and this is actually super common since tickets sell out fast. Or in my case, I just didn’t even know they sell out that fast.

Option 1: Check for Cancellations a Few Days in Advance

There’s a cancellation policy in place for people that purchased advance tickets. We checked about 3-4 days out and noticed a couple time slots opened up (as you can see below)! It still wasn’t the sunset time that I wanted, but it does seem to work if you check a little before the cancellation time frame. It usually opens up on the Cheongsapo Station → Mipo Station route.

  • 3+ days before boarding: 100% full refund
  • 2 days before boarding: 80% refund (20% fee applies)
  • 1 day before boarding: 70% refund (30% fee applies)
  • On the boarding date: 50% refund

Option 2: Book a Busan Tour That Includes the Sky Capsule

This would’ve been my backup plan if I couldn’t get Busan Sky Capsule tickets. Also, this is probably the best alternative if you are planning just a day trip from Seoul. There are plenty of affordable Busan tours (around $65 USD) that include Sky Capsule admission, so while you can’t choose your exact time slot, you’re guaranteed a ride. Plus, you get the convenience of transportation and the chance to see more of Busan in one trip.

Another reason these tours are worth considering is that they often have better availability than the official website, since they’re allocated their own set of sky capsule tickets. I’ve checked just the day before and they had availability with GUARANTEED Sky Capsule tickets. Below is the link where you can find the tours.

Option 3: Head to the Sky Capsule Ticket Office The Same Day Before Opening

If you have time to wait in line and are staying in Busan, this is exactly what I did. Not only did my friend and I test this out once, but we tested this out TWICE. So, you know I’m about to give you real life experience and not something that was just taken off of A.I.

Tip #1:

Both Mipo and Cheongsapo stations sell tickets for BOTH directions. So you can buy Mipo departure tickets at Cheongsapo and vice versa. BUT this only works at the ticket counter with an staffed ticket counter. The self service kiosks only sell departures from the station you are currently at. Make sure you know what line you are standing in!

Tip #2:

The ticket office opens at 9:00 am. I got to Mipo Station at 8:15 am and there were already five groups ahead of me. By 9:00 am, there were over 100 people behind me. Meanwhile, my friend went to Cheongsapo Station the day before at 8:50 am and only had six groups ahead of her with barely anyone behind her.

In both cases, we were able to secure the exact route and sunset times we wanted for the Sky Capsule, but obviously, the better move is to go to Cheongsapo Station and buy your ticket from there if you don’t want to wait in a massive line all day.

Where to Stay in Busan

Since most visitors spend two to three days exploring Busan, choosing the right hotel can make a big difference. These are the two hotels I personally stayed at, and I would recommend each depending on the type of trip you’re planning.

Park Hyatt Busan

If you’re looking for a luxury stay with incredible ocean views, Park Hyatt Busan is one of the best hotels in the city. As a Hyatt loyalist, staying here was at the top of my list, especially since it was my first time visiting Busan.

This hotel is perfect if you want a relaxing getaway, plan to spend time enjoying the property, or want to wake up to beautiful views of the marina and coastline. However, if your main goal is sightseeing and you’ll be out exploring Busan all day, you may prefer a more central location.

Fairfield by Marriott Busan

For travelers looking for a comfortable and affordable place to stay, Fairfield by Marriott Busan is a great option. Rates can often be found under $100 per night, and the rooms offer excellent value for the price.

The location is also more convenient for exploring Busan, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and attractions nearby. If you’re planning to spend most of your time sightseeing and just need a clean, comfortable hotel to come back to, this is a great choice.

Tips for Visiting the Busan Sky Capsule

Here are a few things I wish I knew beforehand:

  • Arrive early because the stations can get crowded
  • Avoid weekends if possible
  • Sunset slots book out the fastest
  • Spring and autumn are the best seasons to visit
  • If you’re going to be out all day (especially on a tour), bring a portable battery charger. You’ll definitely be taking a lot of pictures!

Final Thoughts on the Busan Sky Capsule

Whether you’re visiting Busan for two days or a full week, I would absolutely include the Busan Sky Capsule on your itinerary. It’s one of the most unique attractions in South Korea and an experience that’s worth planning ahead for. And if reservations are already sold out, don’t worry. Hopefully these tips help you secure a ticket so you don’t miss one of the best things to do in Busan.
