Tokyo Goyard Price List Comparison

I’m excited to present to you today a Japan Goyard Price List! If you already don’t know, the U.S. dollar is extremely strong abroad right now so I thought it would be interesting to see what certain Goyard bags are going for in Japan. I would have never considered buying luxury goods in Japan since I’ve always heard it’s more expensive, but now that the USD is so strong, I wondered if it would be cheaper.

UPDATE: The new 2023-24 Japan Goyard Price List is now available!

Life Update

First, I’m so sorry for not posting for two weeks! I promise I haven’t disappeared lol. It was just way too hard to post while I was traveling with all the research, jetlag, and picture/video taking. Well, the good news is that I have A LOT to share with all of you if you are interested in going to Seoul and Tokyo anytime soon!

Japan Goyard Price List Bag Comparison

This Japan Goyard Price List will be concentrating on the three main tote bags: St. Louis, Artois, and Anjou. This is just to give you an idea of what prices are going for in Japan right now. I do not have prices for any other bags or accessories, unfortunately.

Where Did I Get The Prices?

I personally visited a Goyard store in Tokyo on November 12, 2022, so the prices are current as of that date. The U.S. prices are from a visit to my local boutique on October 18, 2022.

Goyard Regular Colors vs. Special Colors

If you haven’t heard, Goyard has officially gotten rid of their separate pricing between their regular colors and their special colors. Historically, Goyard had different pricing for their regular colors (black and tan/black) and their special colors (red, orange, yellow, green, sky blue, navy, burgundy, white, and gray). The regular colors would usually be a couple of hundred dollars cheaper, but now for 2022, all the colors are over the special color pricing of last year. So, in other words, if you are buying regular colors this year, you will incur the biggest price jump.

Exchange Rate

For today’s blog post, I’m going to use the exchange rate of 100 yen = .72 cents. When I went to Japan a couple of years ago, it was close to 100 yen = $1 USD. So, you can think of this as almost 25% off what would have been back before the pandemic.

So, Is it Cheaper to Buy Goyard in Japan?

This is the most surprising part… Yes, it is totally cheaper to buy Goyard in Japan right now! On top of that, it’s actually not too far from the discount you would get from buying your Goyard in Paris. Depending on the bag, there might only be a $75-$150 savings if you were to buy it in Paris instead of Tokyo. This is insane that an Asian country would be even close to the same prices as their European counterpart.

You might be wondering if I ended up buying my Goyard there then. Well, I STUPIDLY forgot my passport back at the hotel and it was our last day in Tokyo when I did this research. Of course, I didn’t follow my own advice and do my shopping ahead of time. To be honest, I didn’t think the prices would be that drastically different from the U.S., but it was almost close to the savings that I would get in Europe!

Conclusion

So, if you are planning on going to Tokyo (or Japan for that matter) anytime soon and aren’t planning on going to France, you should definitely get your Goyard bag in Japan. First, the line in Tokyo is way shorter than in Paris. I waited about 10 minutes vs. the 1.5 hours in Paris. Second, they actually have stock of the items you want. My friend went to Paris this year and they didn’t have the Artois MM in tan/black in stock the whole time he was there. Third, the savings are almost comparable to what you would get in Paris so you’re not saving that much more by waiting to go to France.
